KTLA or Channel 5 is a television
network in Los Angeles, California.
KTLA is an affiliate of the CW
Television Network and is owned by
the Tribune Company. KTLA's studios
are located on Sunset Boulevard in
Hollywood, and its transmitter is
situated on top of Mount Wilson.
KTLA is also available as a regional
super station via cable and
satellite in the U.S. and Canada and
its signal covers the Southern
California region. Started in 1947,
KTLA was the first commercially
licensed television station in
western U.S. Currently, KTLA is a
usual CW affiliate airing the usual
mixture of syndicated shows,
first-run prime time programming
from the CW, as well as early
morning and evening newscasts, and
sports coverage.
The Los Angeles Clippers has its
“over-the-air” home in KTLA. From
1986 to 1991, the station aired
Clippers games. It resumed airing
their games again in 2002. From 1993
to 2001, KTLA also became
the TV
home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
KTLA airs about 30 hours per week of
local news, and for decades its 10
p.m. newscast was the most- is the
number two-rated watched until 2000
when KTTV consistently started
