The Echo Park, Los Angeles, USA
Located in the northwest downtown
district, Echo Park is a
neighborhood in Los Angeles. Echo
Park is just east and southeast of
Silver Lake, south of the Elysian
Valley, north of Westlake, west and
northwest of Chinatown, and
southwest of Elysian Park. Adjacent
neighborhoods are Angelino Heights,
Colton Hill, Edendale, Elysian
Heights, Temple-Beaudry and Sunset
Heights. The Dodger Stadium is found
inside its borders.
Echo Park, L.A. contains a beautiful
lake, a recreational lake with a
boathouse that offers fishing
opportunities. This park also boasts
of the largest garden of planted
lotus outside of Asia. The annual
Lotus Festival is held here, an
event which is quite popular in the
area. A Cuban festival is also held
here in honor of Cuban poet and
patriot, José Martí, for whom a
statue was erected within the park.
The Cathedral of the Episcopalian
Diocese of Los Angeles and the
famous Angelus Temple is located
on the edge of the park.
Within the Echo Park neighborhood is
the Echo Park Film Center, is a
non-profit media arts
organization. It provides equal
and affordable access to film/video
education and resources through a
community mini-cinema and meeting
venue, free and nominal priced media
arts education programs, a
comprehensive small format film
equipment and service department, a
green-energy mobile cinema/film
school, and an international touring
festival showcasing local,
established, and emerging
filmmakers. |
